CALAMITY JANE (1/8/37)
Like the original Calamity Jane, Amelia Earhart wanted to be “one of the boys,” and then some. She earned this nickname for both her persistence and for her many near-misses in the cockpit. After Earhart disappeared on the first VGL manned mission in 1937, the CALAMITY JANE was retired in her memory.
