    CALAMITY JANE (1/8/37)

Amelia Earhart and Fred NoonanLike the original Calamity Jane, Amelia Earhart wanted to be “one of the boys,” and then some. She earned this nickname for both her persistence and for her many near-misses in the cockpit. After Earhart disappeared on the first VGL manned mission in 1937, the CALAMITY JANE was retired in her memory.
