PUCK (11/15/37)
James “Puck” Morley earned his nickname for his diminutive stature (5'1"); his pod had to have special controls installed so his feet could reach the pedals. His piloting ability was undisputed – between 1933 and 1937, he set seven speed records in single-engine airplanes and was also the first flyer to cross the Himalayan Mountains solely on instruments. When Earhart disappeared in 1937, “Puck” Morley volunteered at once to search for her; he, too, was lost on translocation and never seen again.
