NOMAD (4/27/4![]()
After World War II, Lincoln Ellsworth led the VGL faction in favor of manned missions. Both an engineer and an explorer – he once spent thirty days in sub-zero temperatures after crash-landing at the North Pole – Ellsworth designed a specially-modified transport pod which he named NOMAD. His dream of going to Elsewhen died in 1951, however, when NOMAD was destroyed in the Lakehurst laboratory explosion without ever leaving the gantry.
