MEDICINE MAN
Richard Eagle Whitefeather, the son of Charlie Eagle Whitefeather, the first native American member of the VGL, became a VGL pilot in 1984 after his graduation from MIT. Eagle Whitefeather narrowly escaped death when his first pod, THUNDER CLOUD, disintegrated on the gantry during its maiden voyage in 1986. When its replacement arrived, Eagle Whitefeather transported it to the San Juan mountains in southwestern Colorado for a three-day Vision Quest to increase its magic. When launched on its first mission on June 3, 1987, the pod – now named MEDICINE MAN – set three VGL records for translocation velocity.
