GYPSY (4/23/64)
VGL pilot James Morrow, a recent graduate of the Air Force Academy, had his navigational computer fail in the BattleTech universe on March 19, 1964 during his first translocation and narrowly escaped death when spotted by alien forces. The next day, Morrow had his fortune told by a Gypsy fortune-teller and, ignoring pleas from VGL technicians to re-calibrate his systems before attempting a second mission, translocated and disappeared. In his honor, his colleagues voted to name his replacement UFT the GYPSY II.
